Ted Lasso became a beacon for millions when it premiered during the COVID-19 pandemic and went on to become a fan favorite series that garnered critical acclaim. Launching Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, and Hannah Waddingham to new heights, the series ended after three seasons before being resurrected with a new focus, featuring both new and old characters. Clocking in as the top-rated Apple TV premiere of all-time, the new season of Ted Lasso has introduced the new Lady Greyhounds team, an all-female squad that needs the singular leadership of none other than Ted himself. Ted Lasso could be back to start a new three-season cycle or tell a longer story, but while we don’t know what the future holds, we can all believe in the great news that Ted Lasso is back!
Season four sees Ted return to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would. The new season sees the return of fan favorites like Roy Ke, Coach Beard, and Keeley while others like Jamie Tartt, Nate Shelley, and more are gone. Despite the cast changes, the same inspirational feel of Ted Lasso is back to give us a new group of characters to root for.
I spoke with some new additions to the Ted Lasso cast about the series’ fourth season. With the main cast reprising their roles, the newest squad members chatted about joining one of the biggest television shows of all time and how it felt to become part of the Ted Lasso family. Jude Mack talked about drawing inspiration from the crazy goalkeepers out there. Abbie Hern discussed the dynamic between Gemma and Alice Chilton and how it evolves throughout the season.
