And here we go back to good-old slasher land! I can never seem to stay away from my favorite subgenre! This latest offering is called INTRUDER. Doesn’t that just seem like a perfect name for a slasher? It ranks right up there with the likes of THE PROWLER, MANIAC, and MADMAN. And holy shit, guys, wait till you get a load of the plot. It’s basically “slasher movie heaven”. I won’t say another word. Just read:
October 31st is the scariest night of the year for everyone in Hobb’s Ferry… except Lila. For her, each day is just a little more frightening than the day prior. Lila is a paranoid schizophrenic, and after a year in a mental hospital, her boyfriend has taken her to his quiet family estate to spend the darkest holiday. Unfortunately for them, these woods aren’t just dark and deep, but deadly, and Halloween will soon become a bloody fight for survival.
Are you serious?! Talk about hitting every possible horror/slasher movie scenario! Let’s see… Takes place on Halloween? Check! Deceptively cozy-sounding town name? Check! Mental hospital? Check! Schizophrenia? Check! A deserted family estate located in deep, dark woods? Check again!
Seriously, my horror-loving friends, what more could you ask for? I bet you anything that someone utters the line ”I’ll be right back” as well! Some may think that this is merely a long laundry list of clichés, but isn’t that what most slasher horror is anyway? It’s all one big, fun cliché and that’s usually what keeps us coming back for more. We want to see all those creepy scenarios. It’s home for us, in a sick sort of way. At least that is how I feel.
INTRUDER was written and directed by Gregory Caiafa and stars Christena Doggrell (seen below), Alexandra Grossi, Jack Reiling, Michelle Van Schyndel, Arda Itez, Rob Ryan, Therese Plaehn, Gary Ferrar, Brian Ish, and Anthony Marks. I’m told that DVD copies will soon be available via production company Red Circle Movies’ website.
