Invisible Ending

I picked up some DVD over the weekend, and right before it started I was treated to a nice trailer (check it out HERE) for the upcoming David Goyer flick THE INVISIBLE, and was all excited because it kept advertising it as being released January 2007. Then I remembered that it swapped release dates with PRIMEVAL, and won’t be seeing the light of day until April. Damn! I then decided to drink my sorrows away, and promptly passed out before the feature film even started.

Anyway, today Goyer had a chance to talk with SCI FI WIRE about the film, which recently just wrapped post-production. The good news: according to Goyer, this flick is dark (nice), and the even better news: they’re keeping the original Swedish film’s f*cked up ending, and not making it a happy one for the U.S. release: We didn’t do the bulls–t [ending]. … If anything, we went more tragic in some ways. … The biggest issue I had with the original Swedish film was I thought they kind of copped out on the ending.

I for one am getting sick of happy endings all the time, and when I see one that leaves you on a downer – while it may be depressing as all hell – it’s still cool as f*ck, and somehow I respect the film a little more.

The more I hear about THE INVISIBLE, the more I want to check it out… and the fact that they took it from ‘dump month’ to prime ‘genre month’ to battle the likes of GRINDHOUSE and THE TRIPPER at the B.O., it makes me think that at least the studio is behind this one more… and therefore, can’t be that bad.
