Ironheart series at Disney+ taps Chinaka Hodge as head writer

With its move to Disney+, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing bigger than ever, and there are quite a number of new shows in development for the streaming service, one of which is Ironheart. The upcoming series is already set to star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor and the creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.

With the writer's room for the six-episode series slated to launch next month, it's been reported that Marvel has tapped Chinaka Hodge to serve as head writer on the Ironheart series. Hodge has previously penned episodes of Snowpiercer and Amazing Stories, but she's also a poet and playwright known for For Girls with Hips: Collected Poems and Writings, Dated Emcees, Chasing Mehserle, and Mirrors in Every Corner. Riri Williams was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato back in 2016, and was introduced as a 15-year-old MIT student who managed to reverse engineer Iron Man's armor to create her own and caught the attention of Tony Stark himself.

In addition to Ironheart, there are plenty of other MCU shows in development for Disney+. We're already seen WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the next series up will be Loki, which will find Tom Hiddleston reprising his role of the trickster god as he's forced to fix multiple timelines by the Time Variance Authority. The series will debut on June 11, 2021, and will be followed by What If…?, Ms. Marvel, and Hawkeye later this year. We've also got Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Armor Wars, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and an untitled Wakanda series on the way as well.
