Is Darren Aronofsky still after the Robocop directing job??

Oh what a wild ride this ROBOCOP reboot has been on, huh? The thing was announced well over two years ago with the talented Darren Aronofsky attached since the start. Then back in July I hit you all with the news that the project was being shelved, unfortunately. Then a couple months later we heard that Aronofsky still didn’t want to let go of the project…

Well folks it’s not a huge update but today we have some more news about how Aronofsky stills hopes to one day direct ROBOCOP. Now fresh off bringing us BLACK SWAN it seems Aronofsky is once again turning to ‘Murphy’ and company. While chatting with indieWIRE blog The Playlist Aronofsky dropped the good word that ROBOCOP might not be totally out of the picture…

“Well, ‘RoboCop’ may still happen one day, who knows? It’s MGM and hopefully they’ll clear their stuff up and I’m still interested. David Self wrote a great script, but the company went under so…”

Nice! I know this whole reboot craze sucks… And rebooting a classic action flick like ROBOCOP seems absurd. But the fact that it may be coming from Aronofsky makes it Ok, right? Right.
