Is David Ayer teasing Black Mask for Gotham City Sirens?

Although David Ayer won't be taking the helm of the upcoming SUICIDE SQUAD sequel, of which Mel Gibson is still in the running to direct, he will continue playing with several of the characters he brought to life in SUICIDE SQUAD. Ayer is currently hard at work developing GOTHAM CITY SIRENS for Warner Bros., a SUICIDE SQUAD spinoff which will see Margot Robbie reprising her role of Harley Quinn alongside several "top female villains from the DC stable" including Catwoman and Poison Ivy. We still don't know much about GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, but David Ayer just tweeted the following image of DC villain Black Mask without comment.

With no comment from David Ayer or the studio, it'd be foolish to jump to any conclusions, but he has to know that people will pounce on whatever he posts and immediately begin theorizing. Should it wind up being true and Black Mask does get featured in GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, he'd certainly fit right in with Ayer's gritty atmosphere. If, like me, you're a little rusty with your knowledge of DC villains, Black Mask is a brutal and sadistic kingpin in the Gotham City underworld who has a fixation with masks and uses his knowledge of physical and psychological torture techniques in order to get what he wants.

Obviously this is FAR from a certainty, but how would you feel about Black Mask filling the villain role in GOTHAM CITY SIRENS?

BRIGHT, David Ayer's next, stars Will Smith and Joel Edgerton and will debut on Netflix this December.
