Spain’s Filmax Entertainment is teaming up with Mexican production company Lemon Films for a remake of the 1976 Spanish horror flick QUIEN PUEDE MATAR A UN NINO? aka ISLAND OF THE DAMNED, according to Hollywood Reporter.
The remake, going under the working title of CHILD’S GAME, will be the first English-language picture for Filmax, and Lemon Films producer Billy Rovzar said that he expects production to get underway in March. The film will also mark the feature film debut of Spanish director David Alcalde.
Diego Luna (who starred in VAMPIRES: LOS MUERTOS) has read the script and is said to be interested in the project, which centres on a couple of English tourists who arrive on an island where the children have gone psycho and have murdered the adults. Think BATTLE ROYALE meets CHILDREN OF THE CORN, but in a good way.
