It’s Already Dead

You might think the vampire genre has been bled dry, but there’s still some life left in the undead. Wow, I apologize for that entire sentence. But it’s true — here comes yet another attempt at keeping the cobwebs off the coffin.

Charlie Huston’s novel ALREADY DEAD is getting the feature treatment, courtesy of Phoenix Pictures and producer Mike De Luca, who previously brought the fanged ones in BLADE. The story, described as “vampire noir”, is set in an alternate Manhattan infested not only with warring clans of bloodsuckers but also meat-eating zombies, both the results of viruses.

The book is being adapted by screenwriter Scott Rosenberg, whose past work includes THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU’RE DEAD, HIGH FIDELITY and the modern masterpiece CON AIR.
