It’s Gary Oldman vs. a haunting at sea in chilling trailer for Mary

You can discover some rather cool items at auctions, but other times, you wind up with a ghost ship which wants you and your family dead. Ain't that always the case. MARY, the upcoming horror film from Micheal Goi (American Horror Story), follows David (Gary Oldman), a struggling blue-collar captain who is looking to make a better life for his family. After stumbling across an abandoned ship for auction, David snaps it up and takes his family out on the water, but their sea-faring adventure turns horrific when dark and terrifying forces make themselves known. RLJE Films have released the first trailer for MARY, and while it doesn't necessarily look like anything special, the involvement of Gary Oldman has certainly piqued my interest. In addition to Oldman, MARY also stars Emily Mortimer, Jennifer Esposito, Stefanie Scott, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Owen Teague.

The official synopsis for MARY:

David (Academy Award Winner Gary Oldman) is a struggling blue-collar captain looking to make a better life for his family. Strangely drawn to an abandoned ship that is up for auction, David impulsively buys the boat, believing it will be his family’s ticket to happiness and prosperity. But soon after they embark on their maiden journey, strange and frightening events begin to terrorize David and his family, causing them to turn on one another and doubt their own sanity. With tensions high, the ship drifts off course, and it becomes horrifyingly clear that they are being lured to an even greater evil out at sea.

MARY will debut at Fright Fest on August 24th, before hitting theaters, VOD, and On Streaming on October 11, 2019.
