This confirmation was all but hinted at last week when EricW relayed a quote given to MTV, but it appears Nic Cage’s return as Johnny Blaze in GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE has been made official!
While pimpin’ THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE on the late-night circuit, Cage admitted on to Craig Ferguson that “There’s going to be a new one…I just made the deal today.”
Of course, the unbridled energy of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the director of such kinetic works as CRANK and GAMER…had to play a role in Cage’s decision.
“They’re the wonderful directors from Crank, Neveldine and Taylor…they’re fantastic.”
And if you recall an article we posted back in April, which mentioned how endangered the star’s return was looking (in lieu of NATIONAL TREASURE 3), it seems all has worked out and production is set for later this fall.
David Goyer, who’s known for penning the BATMAN BEGINS script (among others), wrote this as well.
Expect to see GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE sometime in 2011!
