Jack Black returns as R.L. Stine in new Goosebumps 2 TV Spot

Sony Pictures has unleashed a new TV spot for GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN that is bound to please fans of the 2015 original family comedy adventure. As you can see from the player above, the new footage reveals that Jack Black will indeed reprise his role as the persnickety horror author R.L. Stine for the sequel. Back in November of 2017, it was reported that Black's farcical version of the best-selling scribe was unlikely to return to the follow-up, as scripting issues and Black's lofty fee kept the studio from securing him for the family-friendly frightfest. However, as evidenced by the new spot, Black is in fact reprising his role for the sequel, though to what extent still remains a mystery.

Directed by WHEN FIRST WE MET helmer Ari Sandel, GOOSEBUMPS 2: HUANTED HALLOWEEN stars Ken Jeong (CRAZY RICH ASIANS), Wendi Mclendon-Covey (BRIDESMAIDS, BLENDED), Chris Parnell (21 JUMP STREET, ARCHER), Madison Iseman (JUMAJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE), Ben O’Brien (MANCHESTER BY THE SEA), Caleel Harris (CASTLE ROCK, THE LOUD HOUSE), Jeremy Ray Taylor (IT), and Jack Black (SCHOOL OF ROCK HIGH FIDELITY), as both the voice of Slappy and R.L. Stine.

Much like the first film, GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN will again focus on a group of curious teens hoping to survive an onslaught of nightmare creatures released from the works of horror author R.L. Stine. More specifically, the sequel centers around two boys (Jeremy Ray Taylor, Caleel Harris) who wage war against witches, monsters, ghouls and a talking dummy after they discover a mysterious manuscript thought to be lost forever by the crotchety creator.

To date, the Scholastic’s worldwide best-selling book series Goosebumps has sold over 400 million copies in print, making it one of the most successful young adult publications ever.

GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN will arrive to haunt theaters on October 12th.
