Man, with all the good work coming from South Korea’s Kim ji-Woon, I almost forgot about the equally talented Chan-wook Park. Specifically his new thriller STOKER…
Thanks to Deadline, a much needed reminder of the film has come with the announcement of a new cast member. Word is veteran actress Jackie Weaver (seen above) will play a role in STOKER, opposite Nicole Kidman (below), Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode. Weaver’s part in the film was not described.
Weaver, an Australian, has been acting since the 60s. She earned an Oscar nod last year for her dastardly character in ANIMAL KINGDOM. She also just wrapped the Nicholas Stoller comedy THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT.
Written by actor Wentworth Miller (under the alias Ted Foulke), the film follows an eccentric teen named India Stoker who, while mourning the death of her father, suddenly must deal with an uncle who mysteriously appears…and the strange things that then happen.
STOKER holds an unspecified 2012 release.
