According to Deadline, MGM is looking to pick up Combat Control, a military drama which tells the true story of Medal of Honor recipient John Chapman that has Jake Gyllenhaal attached to play the war hero. Sam Hargrave, who brought his years of hard-hitting stunt experience when it came to directing Extraction for Netflix last year, is slated to helm Combat Control.

Air Force Combat Control Technician John Chapman died in battle in Afghanistan in 2002, but it would take over a decade for the truth of what really happened to him to emerge. "Fifteen years later, Air Force Captain Cora Alexander is tasked with the nearly impossible job of investigating whether Chapman is a worthy recipient of the medal," reads Deadline's description, "despite no eyewitnesses to his actions and the top-secret world surrounding clandestine operations. Alexander has to uncover the truth, and in revealing Chapman’s sacrifice to the world, she forges her own path to self-forgiveness and personal redemption." The search is currently on for an actress to play Alexander and star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

Jake Gyllenhaal will next be seen in Antoine Fuqua's English-language remake of The Guilty for Netflix later this year, and is currently filming Michael Bay's action flick Ambulance alongside Eiza Gonzalez and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. As for Sam Hargrave, he's attached to helm a sequel to Extraction, which is expected to start production this fall.
