Because $2.7 billion isn’t quite enough for James Cameron or 20th Century Fox, they’ve gone ahead and decided to re-release AVATAR in theaters next month for the 4 people who hadn’t seen it in theaters the first time around.
Or, as Fox puts it, Since – and largely as of result of – Avatar’s release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D, as well as fans that want to return to Pandora again, will now have that opportunity…
Right. Then again, I know of a number of people who were one of the few who caught AVATAR in theaters but didn’t see it in 3D, so I guess this re-release is for them. Except I’m pretty sure they all own the movie by now, but hey–what’s an extra $15 to see a movie in 3D that you’ve already own, right?
But there is one thing that’s cool–there’s an extra 8 minutes of footage never before seen by audiences anywhere that will make it to theaters for the re-release. For those die hard fans of Pandora, that $15 might be totally worth it…
