The latest word on the street regarding the X-MEN franchise was that NEW MUTANTS, to be helmed by Josh Boone (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS), was gearing up to shoot early next year. However, we do have some news that might suggest otherwise! James McAvoy took to Instagram to send out the following picture that was originally posted by X-MEN producer Simon Kinberg. In it, Kinberg can be seen having dinner with both Xaviers (Patrick Stewart and McAvoy, respectively). However, it's what McAvoy said about the picture that really catches our attention.

Dinner last night with the man who's in a multi generational three way relationship with two professors.thanks for dinner @simondavidkinberg and @hutch.parker ,I can't wait for the summer.

From the sound of it, it looks like production on NEW MUTANTS has been bumped up. McAvoy has been vocal about returning to the role as long as the story is good. NEW MUTANTS aims to have the Prof. X school a new batch of mutants that include Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy (SPLIT) as Magik and Nat Wolff (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) as Cannonball. Then again, if there's another X-MEN project in the works, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it!
