James Spader on preparing for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron

We haven't heard from James Spader since it was announced last month he'll be playing Ultron in THE AVENGERS: THE AGE OF ULTRON, but he's made a couple of comments recently about his role in the film. While talking to Inquirer Entertainment, Spader says he's talked to director Joss Whedon and over the weekend did some prep work for THE AVENGERS: THE AGE OF ULTRON.

I have spoken to Joss Whedon about it. And yes, actually, just this weekend I went in for them to take very extensive photographs, head scans, body scans, and all kinds of things in preparation for figuring out how the hell I’m gonna fit in this Ultron character!

The actor also spoke with The Independent, and says “I'm not a planner. I like to try something different, to just see what happens," which is one of the reason's why he decided to take the role in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. James Spader goes on to say he believes he will enjoy the experience, and talks about how he loved comics as a kid.

"I think it'll be a lot of fun and it's incredibly nostalgic for me. When I was a kid my best friend had trunks of comics and I didn't have any so I used to love going for sleepovers at his house. Also I have three sons and two of them have a great interest in comics so they're excited I'm playing the role.”

I really can't properly express the joy I felt when James Spader's casting was first announced. I absolutely love the actor (a friend made me a "What Would Spader Do?" t-shirt for my birthday one year) and I can't wait to hear Spader's delicious voice for Ultron.

THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will be in theaters on May 1st, 2015.
