James Wan asked New Line if he could reboot Blade

It wasn't long ago that we passed along the news that THE CONJURING and AQUAMAN director James Wan wanted to make a BATMAN: HORROR movie. And today we have word via the Happy Sad Confused podcast that Wan also had another quality comic book property he wanted to reboot at one time. The other comic book property was… wait for it (or just read the headline)… BLADE! Yes, Wan said that after THE CONJURING he went to New Line and asked them if they were interested in rebooting the daywalker. Here's how the tale goes from Wan himself.

James Wan on BLADE:

Years back, a couple of years back, I think it was right after Conjuring 1 that I went into a particular studio and told them ‘Hey, I’m a big fan of Blade. Would you guys be interested in rebooting Blade?’ So that was one. Obviously, nothing came out of that! But that was my first intro into looking at potential comic book properties.

He continues:

It was just to kind of talk about it. I didn’t have a full presentation. I did have an idea, I can’t quite remember what it was. That’s how far back it was and I’ve done a lot since then so I can’t quite remember what I had thought of. But I did like it at the time.

I don't know about you but it seems to me that New Line dropped the ball here. I mean can you think of anyone better to reboot the BLADE series than Mr. James Wan?! I sure as hell can't! And while it's too bad that Wan can't (supposedly) remember what his pitch for BLADE: REBORN (or whatever they were going to call it) was, maybe that means he's keeping it tight to the chest so it can eventually come to fruition. I guess only time will tell.

How excited would you be to see James Wan take the helm of a reboot of Marvel's BLADE? And if such a fantastic film was put into production, who other than Wesley Snipes would you like to see take on the ray bans of the vampire killer. Idris Elba perhaps… Let us know below!
