Finish him!

It looks like the long dormant MORTAL KOMBAT movie has received some life, in the form of a sizzling hot director. The Tracking Board reports James Wan – who is coming off the tremendously successful FAST & FURIOUS 7 – will be producing the film, which is set up at New Line Cinema (where Wan makes his CONJURING movies).

The script was penned by Mortal Kombat: Rebirth scribe Oren Uziel and THE EXPENDABLES/GODZILLA writer Dave Callaham.

The story centers around a seemingly harmless guy who realizes his potential when he finds himself caught in the middle of a cross-dimensional battle between the warriors of Earth and the monsters of Outworld. Now, in order to stop the world from total destruction, he must win the martial arts tournament known as ‘Mortal Kombat’.

Wan currently has his hands full with THE CONJURING 2: THE ENFIELD POLTERGEIST, which is scheduled to come out June 2016. We’ll wait and see how this new project shapes up.
