While fellow JoBlo cohort Johnny Moreno was scoping out this past week’s Wizard World Chicago convention, Thomas Jane (THE PUNISHER, MUTANT CHRONICLES) was also there doing his thing, which also included speaking with host Wizard Entertainment about his love of horror comics, and of course, the sequel to THE PUNISHER.
When asked about his involvement with THE TRIPPER (which also stars Steve Niles and David Arquette), and how he got involved, Jane said that David simply sent him a script, Jane loved it, and went on from there. “David gave me the script, and I loved the idea. Then he asked if we would come on. You know, Steve and I have a production company, RAW Entertainment, and David asked if we would come on as producers. We said, ‘Yes! Great!’ Steve read it and loved it, too. We tinkered with the script a little bit and gave our input, but it’s really David’s baby. It’s his creation. We think it’s a great idea. Really fun.”
Finally, when asked about the status of THE PUNISHER 2, Jane stated that the script is halfway through a draft right now, and that things should be rolling by February. And yes, Jigsaw is going to be in it (no, not that Jigsaw). Currently, the film is without a director at the moment, so here’s hoping they find someone, and someone good.
