Jason Goes to Hell director reveals Creighton Duke’s connection to Jason

Like the report that JASON LIVES: FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI director Tom McLoughlin had once pitched the idea of "Cheech and Chong Meet Jason" to Paramount, this is information that has been available for a while, but there is a chance that it passed by some fans. So just in case, we'll help spread the word.

In JASON GOES TO HELL: THE FINAL FRIDAY, director Adam Marcus introduced the bounty hunter character Creighton Duke (played by Steven Williams), a guy who knew a whole lot of secrets that had never been revealed about iconic slasher Jason Voorhees before. Duke and Jason come face-to-face in the film's climax, and during their confrontation Duke asks the killer, "Remember me?"

Although Duke had never been in any of the other movies, it was clear that he and Jason had some kind of history. During a recent Facebook Q&A, Marcus told fans exactly what their connection was:

Here’s what happened. A teenage Creighton was out on Crystal Lake with his girlfriend. Jason capsized their small boat and pulled the girl down into the lake. Creighton tried to save her but could not. She was never seen again. Creighton vowed revenge and from that moment on he spent his life in the study and pursuit of Jason. He became a bounty hunter just to fund his work in taking down his nemesis. That’s the story."

That's a story that probably should have been told within the film itself, but at least the answer to the question of "How does Duke know Jason?" is out there. And even though his story wasn't fully explained in JASON GOES TO HELL, Creighton Duke was still an awesome character.
