Jason Momoa has written the story for Conan the Barbarian 2

CONAN THE BARBARIAN hasn’t come out yet (and won’t do so until AUGUST 19th), but we all know that, with this sort of film, a sequel is in mind before the first film even sees the light of day. The studio wants this thing to grow into a new franchise, and most of it is riding on star Jason Momoa, who is trying to build on the buzz he generated on HBO’s fantastic “Game of Thrones”. Naturally, Momoa wants CONAN to do boffo business just as much of Lionsgate and Millennium Films, and if indeed a follow-up does get the greenlight, Momoa evidently wants to have a say in the story.

In an interview with Crave Online, Momoa reveals that he’s written the story for CONAN THE BARBARIAN 2 (CONAN THE DESTROYER?) – although it largely seems to have been independent of the studio’s input. Saying he’s waiting to “see if they’ll accept it”, Momoa offered up a vision of what we might witness if the film comes to pass.

“It’s character-adapted, because I really want to get into more of the mythical creatures, you know?”

“We wanted to go there [in the first one], but having Clash of the Titans, and coming out against that, we wanted to put the budget into some other things. We just couldn’t hit… We couldn’t get to that level with […] the visual effects and stuff. […] I don’t want to give anything away, but we already have our Conan, really it’s about the villain, what that villain is going to extract from Conan, and where as an actor I want to go with Conan. You know, no one’s going to know what I want to do better than me.”

I just wonder if anyone is even going to try saying “no” to this dude… To read the entire interview with Momoa, head on over to Crave Online.
