Over at Action-Figure.com they’ve posted the news that Sideshow Collectibles have produced a scale version of Bruce, the shark from JAWS, for eager fanboys everywhere. Here’s part of the write up:
Sideshow Collectibles and Terry Wurmser are proud to present you with the Jaws maquette, a scale reproduction of the original Bruce. Sculptor Mat Falls worked closely with Terry to sculpt an accurate ‘Bruce,’ studying Frank’s blueprints and technical drawings to recreate the Jaws shark’s unique anatomy. The shark is proudly displayed atop an elegant display base, and each piece is hand cast and hand painted to exacting standards. The Sideshow Exclusive version of the Jaws maquette includes printed reproductions of Frank Wurmser’s original drawings and blueprints, and as a special bonus, we’ve also included a print of the congratulatory card presented to Frank upon his retirement. These rare artworks provide additional insight into the design and execution of Bruce the Shark, one of pop culture’s most beloved film icons.
That all sounds good, but I can’t get past the fact that the pictures of it look kinda crappy to me. Maybe I’m missing something. I freely admit that I’m not into collectibles, thus why I’ve never reported on one before, but if you’re gonna do Jaws, shouldn’t he kick ass?!
