J.C. Chandor lands Oscar Isaac for A Most Violent Year, will also direct the Vince Lombardi biopic

J.C. Chandor shot to acclaim with his underseen finance thriller MARGIN CALL which garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. He is following that up with the buzzed about ALL IS LOST starring Robert Redford. Many claim both Chandor and Redford could be nominated for the film come Oscar time. But, Chandor is not resting on his laurels with two big projects coming up.

First is the drama A MOST VIOLENT YEAR starring Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac. Isaac replaces Javier Bardem who left the film due to disagreements over the script. Chandor is excited to have Isaac on board where he will be playing a Hispanic man who immigrates to America and winds up a very successful businessman. Isaac himself has been generating buzz in the lead role of the Coen Brothers’ new film INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS. A MOST VIOLENT YEAR will be set in 1981, considered one of the most violent years on record.

But, Chandor will also be venturing into another project, the high profile biopic about legendary Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi. NFL fans are all familiar with the iconic Lombardi whose namesake trophy is awarded to the Super Bowl champion each year. Chandor will write and direct the sports film for Legendary Pictures who also produced this year’s 42: THE JACKIE ROBINSON STORY.

So far, Chandor has been running quite an array of genres and with huge casts including stars Kevin Spacey, Zachary Quinto, Robert Redford, Demi Moore, Jeremy Irons, and many more. Definitely keep an eye out on this guy.
