JD’s Shadows back?

About two months ago it look like the big screen adaptation of the dark soap series DARK SHADOWS was dead in the water, with Johnny Depp showing some interest but not a whole lot (check that shite out HERE). Today Variety announced that SHADOWS is still in the works, as Depp’s production company Infinitum Nihil is trying to bring the adaptation to the forefront.

Specifically, Depp and Nihil are working with GK Films and [Warner Bros.] on a film transfer of Dark Shadows that will have Depp playing Barnabas Collins. So biggity-BAM! There you have it!

This is big news for Depp fans, but probably even BIGGER news for SHADOWS fans, though I can honestly say I haven’t seen the show before so I’m not really sure what all the hype is about. All I know is that the show featured vampires, werewolves, ghouls, and other such shadows of the night. I guess that pretty much makes it the coolest soap opera of all time!

While the news doesn’t say for sure that it will happen, it does show that things are in progress to make it so it does happen. Of course, with Depp’s film line-up, it may be a few years before it actually happens…
