An interesting interview is up at Icons of Fright with Gina Phillips, who you’ll remember as the sexy sister “Trish” in the original JEEPERS CREEPERS. Of course, she was not in the sequel (while her movie brother “Darry” (Justin Long) made a decidedly dopey cameo), and in discussing that with the “Fright” boys, she hints at possibly being involved in the upcoming third entry into the franchise, tentatively known as THE CREEPER WALKS AMONG US.
Regarding her lack of involvement in the sequel, she says: “…they came up with this other idea, which was a version of what the 2nd one ended up being, and my character was a cameo in it. And truthfully, the reason they decided not to do it was they originally were going to kill off my character and they decided that they didn’t want to, to leave it open for more of the franchise. To be there later on. So, that’s the true story behind it. It wasn’t that I just turned it down.”
Icons of Fright naturally assumed this means she’s ready to go for part 3. Unfortunately, little miss Phillips mostly plays it coy: “Victor and I have been speaking, and I will just leave it at that. So, we will see what happens.”
I’m going to go ahead and speak for her. “Yes, I am definitely doing this movie. Can you name another film I’ve been in since the first Jeepers? Neither can I.”
