Jeff Bridges & Chris Hemsworth in talks for Drew Goddard’s upcoming thriller

Drew Goddard's name has popped up in relation to a number of projects over the years, including taking the helm of SINISTER SIX, one of Sony's many Spider-Man spin-off's they had planned before their partnership with Marvel, but Goddard hasn't directed a film since THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, which was his feature film directorial debut. That's all set to change as Drew Goddard moves forward with BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE, and THR reports that Jeff Bridges and Chris Hemsworth are currently in talks to star in the upcoming thriller.

Per THR, the story is set in the 1960's at "a run-down hotel near California’s Lake Tahoe named the El Royale and centers on a cast of characters whose own shady agendas will violently collide." The Twentieth Century Fox project, which will be written, directed, and produced by Drew Goddard, is apparently being kept under wraps and character details are rather hard to come by, but The Tracking Board's Jeff Sneider claims that Jeff Bridges would play a down-on-his-luck priest named Father Daniel Flynn, and that other characters include a vacuum cleaner salesman, two female criminals, a male cult leader, a desk clerk, and an African-American singer. Should the deals close, it will serve as a little nice little THE CABIN IN THE WOODS reunion for Drew Goddard and Chris Hemsworth. Production on BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE is looking at getting underway in January 2018.

Jeff Bridges will next be seen in KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE on September 22, 2017, while Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as the God of Thunder for THOR: RAGNAROK on November 3, 2017.
