I will admit up front that I’ve never seen Jeff Broadstreet’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 3D, but every single thing I’ve heard about it indicates it’s terrible. Yes, I know, I should judge for myself, but if 10 out of 10 people tell you something is excrement, are you still going to bend down and smell for yourself? (Read our DVD Pub review HERE.)
It’s that movie’s status as a terrible, terrible thing that makes it all the more curious that a sequel is currently being made. As we told you last month, Broadstreet is once again behind the camera, and Andrew Divoff (“Lost”) has been tapped to portray the son of the character Sig Haig played in the first flick. Now the film has gotten another cast member, and admittedly, it makes the project slightly more interesting.
Jeffrey Combs has been cast as the brother to Haig’s character. (See the behind-the-scenes picture of Combs, Divoff and a crewmember above.) Add to that the fact that the movie appears to now be called NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 3D: RE-ANIMATION (it previously had the subtitle “Resurrection”). A reference to Combs, I guess. In any event, to see how he figures in, check out the flick’s synopsis below:
After inheriting the family mortuary, a pyrophobic mortician (ANDREW DIVOFF) accidentally exposes hundreds of uncremated bodies to toxic medical waste. As the corpses re-animate, the mortician’s inheritance-seeking younger brother (JEFFREY COMBS) unexpectantly shows up, stumbling upon a full zombie outbreak!
Like the first film, this one will be in 3D, although I’m really not sure if it’ll ever see the inside of an actual movie theater. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
