Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte are in talks to join Russell Brand in the remake of Arthur

THR is reporting that the lovely Jennifer Garner (VALENTINE’S DAY, THE INVENTION OF LYING) and fabulous boozehound Nick Nolte (HBO’s upcoming “Luck”, TROPIC THUNDER) are currently in talks to join Russell Brand (GET HIM TO THE GREEK) and the Helen Mirren (LOVE RANCH) and Greta Gerwig (BAGHEAD) in the remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore comedy ARTHUR.

The film, from television director Jason Winer (the very funny “Modern Family”) and writer Peter Baynham (BORAT), “follows a very rich, happy drunk who is told by his mother that he must marry the wealthy girl of her choosing or else lose his inheritance, just as he meets a poor girl (Greta Gerwig) and falls in love.” Playing a rich heiress will be Garner while Nolte will play her “deeply religious” father. And with that, I fully expect the man to steal every scene he’s in.

Garner will next be seen in the politically-tinged satire BUTTER opposite other attractive bodies such as Ashley Greene, Olivia Wilde, and Hugh Jackman. Nolte will next be seen on the silver screen in the action-drama WARRIOR from PRIDE & GLORY helmer Gavin O’Connor. And in 2011, he’ll appear in the aforementioned HBO series “Luck”, the pilot episode of which is being directed by Michael Mann.
