Jennifer Garner & James Marsden join Party Down revival at Starz

Starz’s revival of the cult comedy Party Down has added more names to its cast and they include Jennifer Garner and James Marsden.

Joining original stars Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally, will be Jennifer Garner as a series regular and James Marsden, who is set for a key recurring role, per “Deadline.” Also joining as series regulars are Tyrel Jackson Williams and Zoë Chao.

Garner will be playing Evie, a successful producer of studio franchise movies, who, in the wake of a breakup, is reconsidering her life choices. A fledgling relationship with Henry Pollard (Scott) becomes a way for her to explore new directions. Marsden has been cast as Jack Botty, an actor who plays the lead in a popular superhero franchise. Jack’s looks match his charm, he enjoys his life, his fame, and being the center of everyone’s attention.

Williams is set to play Sackson, a handsome, confident, driven, wannabe influencer/internet personality. He’s knowledgeable and savvy about his specific internet niche, but a bit lost in every other aspect of his life. Rounding out the cast is Zoë Chao as Lucy, a passionate, outspoken, free-thinking creative “food artist.” Lucy dreams of being a celebrity chef, but she’s stuck cranking out hors d’oeuvres at Party Down without the resources to do anything more ambitious.

Like the original series, Party Down will follow a Los Angeles catering team of Hollywood wannabes (Scott, Lynch, Marino, Starr, Hansen, Mullally) who are stuck working for tips while hoping for their “big break.” Each episode will find the team working a new catering event while they also get tangled up with extremely out-there guests and their absurd lives. The Party Down revival is set for a six-episode run.
