We’re forever waiting on Jennifer Lynch’s HISSS, which will hopefully hit our shores sometime this millennium , but the director isn’t waiting on her next project, which was just announced in Variety. It seems a bit routine and off the beaten path for the helmer of twisted flicks like SURVEILLANCE and BOXING HELENA, but as she’s the daughter of the legendary David Lynch, we’ll always give her a shot.
The film is called VISIBILITY, and Variety likens it to both THE SIXTH SENSE and PRIMAL FEAR. A supernatural thriller, it centers around a detective whose search for the identity of a trauma-induced amnesia victim reveals a mysterious connection between the two men.
VISIBILITY was written by Allan Loeb, who penned Fox’s WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS as well as the Jennifer Aniston/Jason Bateman comedy THE SWITCH. Not exactly credits that give one hope for a quality suspense flick, but it’s worth mentioning that he also worked on the highly-touted screenplay for the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake, so maybe he’s a jack of all trades. (Interesting to note that Loeb also wrote THE DILEMMA, that Vince Vaughn movie with all the gay joke controversy.)
“Loeb’s ‘Visibility’ snuck up on me like a stranger at a party — a safe place, a new face — Mama warned me about scripts like this,” Lynch said. Lady has a knack with words…
A February start date is in the cards.
Jennifer ANiston, just cuz I mentioned her name…
