Update: Jeremy Renner fractured arms during Avengers: Infinity War stunt

Update: Sources are now saying that Jeremy Renner's accident which left the actor with fractures on both his arms did NOT happen on the set of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, but in fact happened on the set of TAG, the New Line comedy which is also filming in Atlanta.

Great effort is taken in order to ensure the safety of everyone on a film set, but accidents do happen, and Jeremy Renner is living proof of that. While speaking at a Karlovy Vary Film Festival press conference today, Jeremy Renner revealed that he "broke his arms" during a stunt on AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. No word on what the stunt was, but the actor wound up fracturing his right elbow and his left wrist. Jeremy Renner seems to be taking his injury in stride, saying "that's how it goes. It's part of the job."

Despite the injury, Jeremy Renner said that he wouldn't let it affect his job. "I’m sort of a problem solver, you know. There will be an effect to it, but it won’t stop me from doing things that I need to be doing," said Renner. "I'll heal fast. I’m doing everything I can to heal faster." With production on AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR nearing its end, Renner has already moved on to his next project, TAG, an upcoming comedy which revolves around a group of friends who have kept a game of tag going for years.

I’m doing a job that isn’t really requiring a ton of stunts. It’s not an action movie; it’s a comedy. It just happens to have a few stunts in it. So I don’t have to beat a whole lot of people up or do anything crazy. So it won’t really affect my job….It affects how I get dressed in the morning. I can’t tie my shoes, but outside of that and everything else, I can kind of get by.

TAG is actually based on a real-life story which was featured in the Wall Street Journal, in which a group of friends from Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane, WA have been playing an epic game of tag which has lasted for thirty years. They even secretly enter each other's homes and schedule their vacations around the game. In addition to Jeremy Renner, TAG also stars Ed Helms, Isla Fisher, Jake Johnson, Hannibal Buress, Jon Hamm, Annabelle Wallis, and Rashida Jones. Once production wraps on AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, the Marvel team will shut down for three weeks before regrouping to begin work on the as-yet-untitled AVENGERS sequel. Here's hoping that Jeremy Renner's injury won't keep Clint Barton/Hawkeye out of the battle for long. Get well soon, Mr. Renner!

AVENGERS: INFINTY WAR is set for a May 4, 2018 release and will be followed by the UNTITLED AVENGERS SEQUEL on May 3, 2019.
