Jessica Chastain in talks to join Jake Gyllenhaal in Ubisoft’s The Division

Unfortunately we're still waiting for a film to come along and break the so called video-game movie curse; Duncan Jones' WARCRAFT didn't wind up being the film to do it and now it's up to ASSASSIN'S CREED, the upcoming adaptation of the Ubisoft franchise of the same name starring Michael Fassbender. Ubisoft has been attracting some big talent to their upcoming films by involving those stars heavily in the development process and putting together attractive packages before bringing those projects to studios.

We'll see if their methods pay off later this year when ASSASSIN'S CREED is released on December 21st, but Ubisoft still has several more projects in the pipeline, including an adaptation of The Division. Ubisoft already has Jake Gyllenhaal on-board to star in and produce the film, and now THR reports that they're courting Jessica Chastain to star alongside him. The recently released third-person shooter is set in "a dystopian New York City in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic. The player, who is an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division, commonly referred to as simply “The Division,” is tasked with helping to rebuild the Division’s operations in Manhattan, investigating the nature of the outbreak and combating criminal activity in its wake."

Jessica Chastain has more than a few projects on the way, including MISS SLOANE on December 9, 2016, THE ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE on March 31, 2017, and will soon be starring in Aaron Sorkin's directorial debut MOLLY'S GAME with Idris Elba.
