Jigsaw is moving to Universal Studios!
Not the SAW franchise, which is still owned by Lionsgate; the torture trap-loving serial killer is bringing some of his wares to the Universal theme parks in Florida and Hollywood, joining “Halloween Horror Nights”. The annual event begins every September and goes through October at both Universal Studios locations, featuring famous movie monsters, as well as haunted houses and the like.
Lionsgate brokered the deal with Universal, which benefits both companies. Lionsgate gets to promote their sixth SAW flick, and Universal kills off an L.A.-based SAW house that had done very well last year. Apparently, the Lionsgate folks were planning on moving to an even bigger house for their attraction, but decided to enter into this pact with Universal instead. A larger audience is absolutely guaranteed.
This is, I believe, a family event, so it’s kind of unusual to bring something as brutal as SAW there; perhaps the props and simulated murders will be watered down to a PG-13? I’ve never been to one of these, so I don’t know how effective the whole production is. That said, I’m certainly curious to see what they’ll do with this SAW attraction; will they go balls-out with it, or make it so that you can bring your 10 year old daughter? (I guess if you’re bringing your 10 year old daughter to a SAW-related event, you deserve what you f*cking get. Both of you!)
