Jiu Jitsu trailer: Nicolas Cage, Tony Jaa lead bizarre sci-fi/action flick

Just when you thought today's Hollywood news cycle was looking relatively ho-hum, The Avenue went ahead and dropped a trailer and poster for JIU JITSU, a martial arts fantasy film from Dimitri Logothetis, the director-producer of KICKBOXER: RETALIATION. Starring Nicolas Cage, Tony Jaa, and Frank Grillo, with Alain Moussi, Rick Yune, Marie Avgeropoulos, and Juju Chan, the film tells of an ancient order of Jiu-Jitsu fighters facing a vicious race of alien invaders in an epic battle for the survival of Earth.

While the plot sounds like just another Friday in the life of Nic Cage, having Tony Jaa and Frank Grillo along for the wild ride does up the anty for this high-concept display of cinematic promise. Personally, I can't deny the rage of the Cage, and I'll be damned if the trailer for JIU JITSU, as extreme as it is, doesn't look like a damn good reason to bust out the buttered popcorn and enjoy the spectacle. The coronavirus pandemic has been tough on us all, so having something like JIU JITSU to brighten the mood has me looking forward to November 20th, which is when the movie hits theaters, On Demand, and Digital.

In addition to the trailer, a poster for the film has also made its debut. You can check the poster out below, but before we go, can we take a moment to appreciate the absurdity of this release? Cage, Jaa, Grillo, and company armed with swords and facing off against an alien threat? What's not to love? Did you see Nic going full-Cage in the trailer? That's the stuff, right there. I'm talking about Cage's crazy eyes, his signature devil-may-care smile, and a willingness to throw himself into any role because who the hell cares? I'm all about it, and I'm sure that plenty of other people will be as well. Let's go!
