Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, script, J.J. Abrams

While speaking with Good Morning America on Monday, director J.J. Abrams revealed that an authentic script for STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER was leaked onto eBay due to human error.

According to Abrams, one of the film's actors had left the top-secret document under the bed in their hotel room, where it was later discovered by a member of the establishment's cleaning staff. While Abrams refused to name the actor responsible, it's to be thought that the guilty party is a primary member of the cast. How do we know this? It's because supporting cast members are rarely given full scripts, especially on a project as secretive as The Rise of Skywlaker.

“The security is insane. The company was really nervous about anything getting out, and so they had only a handful of scripts and they were printed on crazy un-copy-able paper, and then one of our actors—I’m not gonna say which one; I want to, but I won’t—left it under their bed, and it was found by someone who was cleaning their place. And it was given to someone else who then went to sell it on eBay, and someone at the company said, ‘You know there’s a script that looks like it’s a legit script that’s for sale on eBay’. They got it back before it sold,” Abrams told the GMA audience.

In addition to the reveal, Abrams noted that that final chapter of the Skywalker saga was completed on Sunday. Up until that point in time, Abrams could be found putting the final touches on the film, which doesn't hit theaters until December 20th.

What would you do if you came into possession of the script for STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER? Would your first order of business be to read the document, thereby spoiling the upcoming chapter for yourself? Or, would you sell it on eBay in the interest of scroing a massive payday?
