So what’s the new news? Not sure how new, really, but Edgerton sat down with What’s Playing to explain how the new THING will be different from the old THING, clarifying to those who are confused as to whether it’s a prequel, sequel, or remake. Check it: Anyone who is a big fan of the John Carpenter version of The Thing knows that it starts on the American base station but the investigation of where the Thing has come from leads us to know something very bad has happened at the Norwegian base station and the prequel centres itself around there and what happened pre-Kurt Russell.
Was anyone under the impression that this was anything more than a prequel? I didn’t think so… and if there were a few out there who weren’t sure, well now you know. I just relived THE THING on Blu-ray, and was reminded at what a brilliant movie it was, through and through. And you know what… I really want to see what the f*ck happened at that Norwegian basecamp, from the moment they thaw out the Thing to when they’re chasing that f*cker down in a helicopter. The only thing that sucks? You already know how it’s going to end.
