Talk about casting against expectations.
Michael Bay revealed earlier today that John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Ken Jeong have all joined the cast of TRANSFORMERS 3. The first two shouldn’t need any introduction; Jeong is well-known for his comedic roles in flicks like KNOCKED UP and THE HANGOVER. He also has a recurring role on NBC’s “Community”.
Bay didn’t reveal what kind of characters the trio will be playing (UPDATE: Seems as though Malkovich will star as the National Intelligence Director), but it’s a safe bet Jeong will be portraying a hilarious Asian stereotype, while Malkovich and McDormand will be using their considerable acting skills to mask their contempt for the material and need for an easy paycheck.
TF3 will be shot around the globe, including in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Florida, Africa, Moscow and China. It’s tentatively scheduled to open on JULY 1, 2011.
