John Malkovich judges Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked biopic

John Malkovich has joined the cast of director Joe Berlinger's Ted Bundy biopic EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL, AND VILE, taking on the role of Judge Edward Cowart, the man who presided over the serial killer's trial in 1979 and ultimately sentenced him to death.

Bundy’s trial was nationally televised and drew media attention as he eventually represented himself and developed a rapport with the Florida Judge.

Starring Zac Efron as Bundy, EXTREMELY WICKED's story is told from the perspective of Bundy's longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer

during the multi-year period that Bundy hid his murder spree from his live-in lover.

Kloepfer, who thought her boyfriend might be up to something criminal and even reported her suspicions to the police, is being played by Lily Collins.

EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL, AND VILE was written by Michael Werwie. The script won the Nicholl Fellowship first prize and was featured on the Black List.

Financed by Voltage Pictures, the film is being produced by Ara Keshishian, Nicolas Chartier, Michael Costigan, Michael Simkin, and Jason Barrett. Jonathan Deckter serves as executive producer.

Berlinger is assembling a solid cast for the film, and I'm interested in seeing how they're going to bring this twisted story to the screen.
