Jon Hamm, Ed Harris join Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick

Tom Cruise may be the top-billing on the upcoming TOP GUN: MAVERICK, but he’s now got even more star power backing him up. Deadline got the exclusive that actors Jon Hamm (MAD MEN) and Ed Harris (WESTWORLD) have officially joined the cast, but their roles are being kept super-secret. As well, actor Lewis Pullman (BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE) will also be joining the team.

This comes after more recent casting news revealed young crew who will be under Cruise’s wing, including Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez and Monica Barbaro. Another young actor, Thomasin McKenzie, had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts. Joseph Kosinski (OBLIVION) is directing the movie, with actor Miles Teller playing the son of Goose (Anthony Edwards), the former partner of Cruise’s Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the original 1986 movie.

Aside from Cruise, the movie will also star Val KilmerJennifer Connelly, and Glen Powell, and now we have a much more well-rounded cast to bring this movie to life with the addition of Hamm and Harris. The two will make great additions to the crew and, who knows, maybe they'll partner up and take on Crusie and Teller in an epic game of beach volleyball.

TOP GUN: MAVERICK opens July 12, 2019.
