Jon Stewart’s Irresistible gets a new featurette and new VOD release date

After being knocked from its May 29 theatrical release due to complications stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, Focus Features has announced that Jon Stewart's comedic drama IRRESISTIBLE will make its way onto Premium VOD on June 26th.

Written and directed by Jon Stewart, the comedy tells of a Democrat political consultant (Carell) who helps a retired Marine colonel (Cooper) run for mayor in a small Wisconsin town. Meanwhile, Stewart also produced the project alongside Lila Yacoub and Plan B Entertainment’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

In the featurette, Stewart remarks that one of the key aspects of the comedy is to ask the question: Why do we accept that this is the way the media and political parties spend money? He then adds, "Who's really benefiting? Because it's not the average person. I would just like people to think about that … if they want to."

While IRRESISTIBLE is bound to strike a nerve within a subset of viewers, those who delighted in Stewart's time as the host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will no doubt be looking forward to experiencing the filmmaker's commentary on political matters courtesy of this new comedy. What's more is that the film features an absolute spoil of talent, with stars the likes of Steve Carell, Rose Byrne, Chris Cooper, Mackenzie Davis, Topher Grace, and Natasha Lyonne, each arriving as members of the cast.

IRRESISTIBLE will make its POV debut on June 26.
