Is it just me, or does anyone else already loathe this damn HUNGER GAMES movie?
After article upon article of casting speculation – for both the female and male leads – the games continues. So, who will star opposite Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen?
According to Deadline, Josh Hutcherson (seen holding his ball there to the right) and Liam Hemsworth have emerged as frontrunners. Hutcherson for the role of Peeta Mellark, and Hemsworth for the role of Gale. Wait, are we sure these are male leads?
Both dudes have apparently beat out Alex Pettyfer, Hunter Parrish, Lucas Till, Alexander Ludwig, Evan Peters, David Henrie, Robbie Amell and Drew Roy for their, ahem, respective roles. Aside from the paycheck, I’m not sure how proud a feat that is.
THE HUNGER GAMES is set in the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death – televised for all of Panem to see.
Gary Ross will direct, from a script adapted from Suzanne Collins’ novel by Billy Ray.
