Josh Peck to star in Turner & Hooch reboot series for Disney+

Although TURNER & HOOCH may not have been entirely embraced by critics upon its release in 1989, the film has nonetheless taken on a life of its own over the decades due to frequent references in film and television, and it seems that we've come full circle as TURNER & HOOCH is set to return to the screen.

It was reported last year that TURNER & HOOCH would be rebooted for the Disney+ streaming service, and now it seems that Josh Peck, best known for Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh series, will be taking on the leading role. The original film starred Tom Hanks as Scott Turner, a "compulsively neat detective whose tidy world goes to the dogs when he’s forced to team up with a drooling slob of a junkyard dog named Hooch." Peck will play Scott Turner in the reboot, who will now be an "ambitious, buttoned-up US Marshall [who] inherits a big unruly dog, he soon realizes the pet he didn’t want may be the partner he needs." The 12-episode series will be written and executive produced by Matt Nix (Burn Notice). The Disney+ reboot isn't the first time TURNER & HOOCH has made it to the small-screen, as ABC ordered a half-hour pilot soon after the film which starred Thomas F. Wilson (BACK TO THE FUTURE) and Beasley the Dog reprising his role. The pilot did not go to series, but did wind up airing as part of the Wonder World of Disney anthology series.
