This may not fall directly under the “horror’ category, but when combining Joss Whedon with the supernatural, you’ve got to figure a lot of peeps will lean forward with interest.
According to Deadline, Whedon’s next credit as a producer will be on a low-budget supernatural romance called IN YOUR EYES, a metaphysical love story about two seemingly polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have ever imagined. Whedon wrote the screenplay, while Brin Hill will direct.
Whedon, after directing next summer’s mammoth AVENGERS film, helmed a tiny independent production of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING under his newly formed micro-budget production house Bellwether Films. (MUCH ADO was, impressively, shot almost completely under the radar; Hollywood only just found out about it last week.) Said production house will produce IN YOUR EYES, so it doesn’t figure to have a very large budget.
Not much more is available on the plot, but Whedon gave the following statement: “When I wrote In Your Eyes, I didn’t have the wherewithal (or the moxie) to make it without an established production house… I believe, as I did then, that it’s a pretty timeless romance, and now, with the creation of Bellwether Pictures (and Brin Hill’s elegant, passionate take on the piece) I have the opportunity to prove it. (I also have a 37% increase in moxie.) I love this team and I can’t wait to see them bring In Your Eyes to life.”
Shooting on IN YOUR EYES begins in February. Meanwhile, the Whedon-produced CABIN IN THE WOODS will be released in April 2012.
