Joss Whedon teases even more new Avengers: Age of Ultron characters

There are already so many characters appearing in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON that it’s hard to imagine any more, yet according to Joss Whedon there could very well be more characters that we’ve yet to see.

Following today’s release of the most recent AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON trailer, which you should definitely go watch if you haven’t already because it was fantastic, Whedon was asked “will we be seeing Marvel characters who aren't yet in the preview photos? Are we going to be seeing other Marvel characters that we've seen in other films or other parts of the universe?” by Lorraine Cink. Joss Whedon responded in his typically verbose fashion:

Yes.

Now this could simply mean he’s referring to Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell, Idris Elba, or Tom Hiddleston's characters; all of whom we know will be making an appearance but who have yet to show up in any of the trailers. One name that hasn’t actually been confirmed as appearing is Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. He will be appearing in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR but seeing as how Panther’s homeland of Wakanda is likely turning up in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, I can’t imagine Whedon would turn up the chance at giving us a peek at the hero.

Whedon also talked about what Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be bringing to the table with their characters Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver:

It was really important for me to have people who would change the game, emotionally and stylistically, their powers are completely different [from the existing Avengers'] and, through them, we get to see things differently. When we're at speed with him, we're going fast, we're going slow; it's not like we're trying to do some enormous slow-guy set piece, it's just something we never had license to do in the first movie. I never want to get so stylistically arch that you're pulled out of what you're seeing, but at the same time, I wanted to shoot something that was some kind of poetic and strange.

I'm curious as to how Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quicksilver will stack up with his counterpart in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Johnson's Quicksilver was the clear favourite until everyone found themselves quite impressed by Evan Peters' take on the character.

Which returning (or new) characters are you hoping will make a surprise appearance?
