Funnily enough, three days ago in an article about Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s INTRUDERS, I posed the question: “do you think he’ll succeed in getting THE CROW reboot off the ground?”

Word comes from Twitch that Fresnadillo has flown the coop from THE CROW reboot. While no official reason has been given for the departure, it is believed that Fresnadillo may now be the frontrunner to re-launch the HIGHLANDER franchise after Justin Lin’s exit. Or, with Bradley Cooper bailing on the role of Eric Draven (for Lucifer in PARADISE LOST), and the extensive legal wranglings between Relativity Media and TWC…perhaps Fresnadillo just wanted to make a clean break and actually get something done.
Whatever the case, it now seems F. Javier Gutierrez may…and I do repeat MAY…be in line to helm THE CROW. The Spanish director only has one feature to his name (BEFORE THE FALL), with his second, a horror flick called MONKEY’S PAW, currently in pre-production. Think it’s enough to land a coveted studio gig?
