Judy Greer cast as lead female ape in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Frequent romcom, sitcom, and all-around recognizable star Judy Greer has landed the lead role of Cornelia in director Matt Reeves‘ DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, the sequel to the 2011 Apes reboot.  Cornelia was introduced in that film as a potential monkey-love interest for Andy Serkis‘ Ceasar, played by Andy Serkis, and will now have a much larger role in the follow up, this time with Greer in the mo-cap suit.

Greer joins the already cast Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, and Andy Serkis and is very excited to take on the role, saying:

“It’s gonna be fun to have some secrets, but I have to be oh-so-careful. I’m not supposed to say anything to anyone, so once I start shooting, I won’t be able to talk to anybody!”

This is Greer’s first foray into this territory, so it should be an interesting journey for her, to say the least.  I’ve always been a fan of Greer’s and oftentimes found her to be the saving grace to many, otherwise awful romcoms I’ve had to endure.  She was also awesome in Arrested Development and Californication, which gives her a lifetime credit in my book. She’ll next be seen in the CARRIE reboot in October.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is slated for release on May 23, 2014.
