Jurassic World: Dominion delayed until 2022, new poster unveiled

Although JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION had to shut down production for several months due to the pandemic, like so many other projects did, the film – which is now back in production – was still holding on to its June 11, 2021 release date. But now the day we've been expecting has arrived and the release of the latest entry in the JURASSIC PARK franchise has been delayed. Universal has decided to push the movie back one year; it's now scheduled to reach theatres on June 10, 2022.

The new release date is featured on the film's new poster, which can be seen below.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow from a screenplay he wrote with Emily Carmichael (based on an idea Trevorrow crafted with his JURASSIC WORLD and JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM co-writer Derek Connolly), JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, Dichen Lachman, Scott Haze, Campbell Scott, and the original JURASSIC PARK's Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern.

The presence of Neill, Goldblum, and Dern in the cast is the most exciting thing about DOMINION to me, especially since Trevorrow has confirmed that they won't just be making cameos like Goldblum did in FALLEN KINGDOM (and Dern did in JURASSIC PARK III). He said,

I think people may be underestimating the size and importance of Laura Dern and Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum’s characters in this movie; it is very much an ensemble. That element – the ability to take these beloved characters from almost 30 years now and understand how they interact with each other in the context of a world we’ve really never seen before and not been able to witness until now is very exciting for me."

According to Goldblum, the JURASSIC PARK characters won't be safely observing the action from a distance, they will be dropped into life threatening situations. He has talked about a scene in which

the three of us were in a tiny little space and we were being menaced by — I can't even tell you — a surprising faction of prehistoric creatures that you've never seen before."

Trevorrow says DOMINION is the movie he has been wanting to make ever since he started working on JURASSIC WORLD.

It's the one we have spent the past two movies building to. It really was part of a larger story and part of a design."

A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, DOMINION is being executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall producing alongside Pat Crowley. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, is overseeing the project for the studio.
