Its a done deal! Sci Fi friendly actor KARL URBAN (THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, STAR TREK, DOOM) will be the new JUDGE DREDD in the next cinematic update of the popular and violent British comic. The film is to be directed in 3D (of course) by PETE TRAVIS VANTAGE POINT) from a script by ALEX GARLAND (SUNSHINE, THE BEACH).
And as opposed to the 1995 SYLVESTER STALLONE version (which I actually enjoyed on some levels), this one will supposedly stay closer to its source material (Dredd will not take off his helmet for example). Am pumped for this as I am totally down for another healthy and brutal serving of DREDD. Hopefully it will be lean and mean and keep stupid comic relief (cough, cough, Rob Schneider, cough) out of it.
