A curious promo for Batwoman finds Kate Kane in a nightmare Wonderland

The CW unleashed a wickedly weird promo for BATWOMAN last week, which finds Ruby Rose's Kate Kane tumbling down a rabbit hole and into the clutches of a villain who's worse than the dreaded Jabberwocky.

The video tease centers on Alice, a vile villainess set to terrorize Batwoman during the first season of her upcoming solo adventures. In the promo, Alice is shown pouring a mysterious blue liquid into a tea cup while the words "curiouser and curiouser" tauntingly loop in the background. This of course is a nod to author Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the classic fairy tale that Alice undoubtedly holds near and dear to her cold, black heart. In addition to the nightmare tea time, we also see a newspaper that contains the words "Is He Back?" written on the front page.

For those of you who're unfamiliar with Alice, she first arrived in tha pages of Detective Comics #854 circa August, 2009. Created by Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III, Alice is typically dressed in Victorian attire, and is often heard reciting lines from Carroll's timeless works. While her identity was kept a mystery from readers for some time, it was later revealed that Alice is indeed Kate's sister, Beth Kane. Played by Rachel Skarsten in the upcoming series, Alice is a most formidable foe whose talents include being an expert in the arts of marksmanship and hand-to-hand combat. She is also quite deadly while wielding her trusty blades.

Written by Caroline Dries and developed by Bertlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, The CW's BATWOMAN stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis and Nicole Kang. The series is set for a Sunday, October 6 premiere, with new episodes happening every Sunday at 8 pm ET/PT.
