Katee Sackhoff set to play a Nordic mercenary in David Twohy’s Riddick

We’re flirting with a month since last writing about David Twohy’s RIDDICK, when, back in December, we threw some more early concept art for the film at you. Well, as production grows closer and closer, we’re happy to relay some pretty cool casting news.

According to Deadline, Katee Sackhoff (pictured) is currently hashing out a deal to star opposite Vin Diesel in RIDDICK. Sackhoff will play the female lead, Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick. Details beyond that are unknown at this juncture.

Not sure what you think, but Sackhoff makes a lot of sense to me. Coming off “Battlestar Galactica,” “Bionic Woman,” “24” and to a lesser extent, “CSI”…Katee has the physical prowess to go toe to toe with Diesel. Throw in her upcoming genre roles, namely in THE HAUNTING IN GEORGIA and GROWL…we may have a new generational scream queen on our hands. Rock it Katee, rock that shite!

With Karl Urban returning as well:

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Vin Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

RIDDICK is slated for a 2013 release.
